It’s that time of the year…Gala Tasting! We all have to do tasks at work that are laborious and no fun. Well this sure isn’t one!! Prior to the Gala in early fall, we discuss with the catering team at Theater Square Events the theme of the event, the color palette and décor, and any dreamy ideas we’ve come up with at Gala Committee meetings for this year’s menu. Then, the chefs put their thinking caps (aka: toques) on and create a tasting menu—
—several first and second course options to taste, sample hors d’oeuvres for the Cocktail Reception, and sample desserts for the Dessert Extravaganza. Oops! How could we forget? And several wines to taste, as well. Told ya…tough job.
For those who attend, it requires loose pants, empty stomachs, and perhaps some Tums at the end. (Rich, decadent food for nearly three hours tends to make for a queasy girl…)
But after sampling the delicious and tantalizing delights and discussing presentation and service, voila! We land with a final menu for the entire six-hour event from soup to nuts. Literally.
